About Us
Vision
We envision the Philippine Go community united around the shared mission of establishing and nurturing groups, school clubs, and organizations and fostering relationships between them across the country, maintaining a strong, deep relationship with the international Go community, while playing and promoting Go in the spirit of sportsmanship, safety, inclusivity, fairness, and equality.

Mission
GoPinas promotes and develops Go in the Philippines through a fair, inclusive, nationally coordinated approach. We establish and support groups, school clubs, organizations, and players; we promote sportsmanship, fairness, equality, inclusivity, and safety; and we work toward the vision.
We do this by:
- Establishing and supporting groups, school clubs, organizations, and players — Establish and support groups, school clubs, organizations, and players so the community grows; fostering relationships between them. We help schools jumpstart their own Go clubs.
- Community-building and roadshows — workshops, meet-ups, events; taking Go to regions and cities (intros, demos, outreach).
- Tournaments, seminars, workshops — competitive play and learning, paid and free, in a spirit of respect and fair play.
- Fair, inclusive representation — groups, school clubs, and organizations have a voice; governance supports the whole community.
- Engaging the international Go community — International Go Federation (IGF), Asian Go Federation (AGF); players representing the Philippines.
OKRs
We use Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to set and track yearly priorities. When writing OKRs, we use the SMART approach: each objective and key result is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

Objectives are grouped by primary focus per quarter; progress on an objective can continue across quarters.
Q1 (Jan–Mar) — Foundation
Membership process, KPIs/SLAs, online channel; officers, departments; marketing.
- O1: Member organizations and structure (Foundation)
Objective: Member organizations are properly registered and the federation has a clear, fair membership structure.- KR 1.1: At least 5 organizations or groups are registered as members of GoPinas by end of Q1 2026.
- KR 1.2: A simple membership process (criteria and how to join) is documented and published by end of Q1 2026.
- O2: Organizational KPIs and SLAs (Administrative)
Objective: GoPinas has a small set of organizational KPIs and SLAs so we can measure and improve how we serve members and the community.- KR 2.1: A first set of organizational KPIs is defined and documented by end of Q1 2026 (e.g. 3–5 KPIs — membership growth, event count, response time, or other agreed metrics).
- KR 2.2: At least 5 SLAs or service commitments are defined and published by end of Q1 2026 (e.g. response time for member inquiries, turnaround for rank requests, or event support).
- O3: Online community (Member Services)
Objective: GoPinas has a visible, maintained online community where players can connect, get information, and participate.- KR 3.1: At least 2 online community channels are established and active by end of Q1 2026 (e.g. Discord server, Facebook group, forum, or mailing list).
- O4: Establish officers (Foundation)
Objective: GoPinas has a clear set of officers with defined roles and responsibilities.- KR 4.1: Officers are elected or appointed and their roles are documented by end of Q1 2026.
- KR 4.2: A simple list of officers and contact (or how to reach them) is published by end of Q1 2026.
- O5: Establish departments (Foundation)
Objective: GoPinas has established departments (or equivalent structure) to carry out key functions.- KR 5.1: Departments are defined and their scope/responsibilities are documented by end of Q1 2026.
- KR 5.2: All founding departments are established by end of Q1 2026 (e.g. membership, events, communications, finance).
- O6: Marketing (Foundation)
Objective: GoPinas has a clear marketing direction and initial thrusts to promote Go and the federation.- KR 6.1: A short marketing plan or set of marketing thrusts is documented by end of Q1 2026.
- KR 6.2: At least [N] marketing channels or tactics are identified and activated by end of Q1 2026 (e.g. social media, events, partnerships).
Q2 (Apr–Jun) — Outreach and funding
Schools, city/region meetups, sponsors, fund-raising, get-togethers, member IDs.
- O7: Schools and youth outreach (Community Building)
Objective: We make Go relatable and interesting to the uninitiated and the untapped market (including through schools and youth). More schools are aware of Go and have a path to start or grow a Go club.- KR 7.1: At least [N] schools are reached out to (e.g. contact, visit, or workshop) in Q2 2026.
- KR 7.2 (stretch): At least one school has an active or jumpstarted Go club by end of Q2 2026.
- KR 7.3: A short approach or messaging for making Go relatable and interesting to the uninitiated is documented or piloted by end of Q2 2026.
- O8: Meetups and presence (city and region) (Community Building)
Objective: Regular meetups exist at both city and region level so players can connect.- KR 8.1: At least [N] city-level meetups are initiated or supported in Q2 2026.
- KR 8.2: At least [N] region-level meetups or events are initiated or supported in Q2 2026.
- O9: Sponsors (Administrative)
Objective: GoPinas has a clear approach to sponsors and secures at least some sponsor support to sustain activities.- KR 9.1: A simple sponsor policy or one-pager is documented by end of Q2 2026 (what we offer sponsors, tiers or options, how to get in touch).
- KR 9.2: At least [N] sponsors are secured (e.g. in-kind or cash) by end of Q2 2026.
- O10: Fund-raising events (Administrative)
Objective: Fund-raising events are run in a planned, transparent way to support federation activities.- KR 10.1: At least [N] fund-raising event(s) are organized or co-organized by GoPinas in Q2 2026.
- KR 10.2: A short guideline or process for how we run fund-raising events (e.g. purpose, accounting, transparency) is documented by end of Q2 2026.
- O11: Get-together activities (Community Building)
Objective: Players have regular, low-barrier get-togethers for social play and connection (distinct from formal tournaments or structured meetups).- KR 11.1: At least [N] get-together activities (e.g. casual play, social sessions, coffee-and-Go) are organized or supported by GoPinas or member groups in Q2 2026.
- KR 11.2 (optional): Get-togethers are listed or promoted in a simple way (e.g. calendar, recurring announcement) by end of Q2 2026 so players can find them.
- O15: Printing of individual member IDs (Member Services)
Objective: Members can receive a printed individual member ID (card or similar) as part of their membership.- KR 15.1: A design and process for individual member IDs (e.g. card format, content, how to request or print) is documented by end of Q2 2026.
- KR 15.2: At least [N] member IDs are printed and issued (or the capability to print on request is in place) by end of Q2 2026.
Q3 (Jul–Sep) — Events and inclusion
Tournaments, rank process, rank-accrediting events, international representation.
- O12: Tournaments and play (Tournaments)
Objective: Players have opportunities to play in organized, fair tournaments.- KR 12.1: GoPinas organizes or supports at least [N] tournaments in Q3 2026.
- KR 12.2: At least one tournament in Q3 2026 uses clear rules and a spirit of respect and fair play (e.g. short code of conduct or guidelines published or shared with participants).
- O13: Go rank of member players (Member Services)
Objective: Member players can obtain or record an official (or federation-recognized) Go rank.- KR 13.1: A process for how member players can get or record their Go rank is documented by end of Q3 2026 (e.g. via IGF/AGF system or a local system we define).
- KR 13.2 (stretch): At least [N] member players have a recorded rank (or have been supported to apply for one) by end of Q3 2026.
- O14: Rank accreditation through tournaments (Member Services)
Objective: Players can earn or progress in rank through accredited tournaments (recognized by GoPinas and/or international bodies).- KR 14.1: A clear process for how tournaments contribute to rank accreditation is documented by end of Q3 2026 (e.g. which events count, how results are submitted, link to IGF/AGF or local system).
- KR 14.2: At least [N] tournament(s) in Q3 2026 are run or recognized as rank-accrediting (or a pilot is completed).
- O16: International tournaments (Tournaments)
Objective: GoPinas can select and support players who represent the Philippines in international tournaments (e.g. IGF/AGF events).- KR 16.1: A clear process for selecting representing players for international tournaments is documented by end of Q3 2026 (e.g. criteria, nomination, decision, communication).
- KR 16.2: At least [N] representing player(s) are selected and supported (e.g. registration, coordination, logistics or funding where applicable) for an international tournament in 2026.
Q4 (Oct–Dec) — Consolidation
All objectives. Close year-end KRs, report on 2026, and plan for 2027.
